“Even though I walk through the valley of death, I will fear no evil, for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff, they comfort me.“
II was sentenced to a year incarceration in 2014 for drug consumption. I was released from jail last year. Jail was probably the best thing that have happened to me during this period. My health restored, my brains functioning and my walk with God have also peaked.
There are no coincidence in life. Only God ordained plans. I have been a boss since 23 years old and I never had much leaders around me. I lived as I pleased. I was a christian like most and i was also not, like most. When times are good, God seems to be a distant memory, but when shit hits the fence, I’ll be on my knees seeking God. Somehow, He will always show me the way.
Existential fears took hold of me when I was admitted into Changi Prison, but God was already there before me. I was blatantly reminded that I do have leaders around me when I was younger.
In prison, there was an officer whom I didn’t communicated much but his presence have shown to me that God, thru Fairfield was there for me in prison. I survived thru the 8 months reassured of God’s faithfulness knowing that Fairfield was there. Fairfield, a church which I grew up with, and alongside, encrusted in my brains are much happier memories of a younger free-spirited me. The comfort was there, and with that I was given the opportunity and courage to turn around.
I finished my bible twice and did my outreach in prison.
When I was released to Teen Challenge for remaining 4 months, I was sent to Full Gospel Assembly Church. Here God told me that the prison officer that I encountered in prison was not a coincidence. Its God’s plan all along. He already placed another leader of mine to remove my doubt completely. I cried profusely on the day I saw this 2nd leader of my childhood; in FGA where Teen Challenge would send their residents to for Sunday service. God showed me that He have fulfilled His promise to me.
Pslams 23:4 Even though I walk through the valley of death, I will fear no evil, for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff, they comfort me.
Deuteronomy 31:8 The Lord himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.”
little known about my past is that I was a insolent prick with a arrogant mindset. The only few leaders in my life that have been etched into my brains are those that guided me when I was young. Seriously, the possibilities of coincidence is smaller that I can possibly fathomed.
Thank you my BB squad leader, Beng Huat, for your presence have sparked to revived my walk back with God.
Thank you David Tan for your reassuring presence and your model family, will be something I will possibly look forward to emulate one day should I be given an opportunity.
& Thank you God for you have been with my every step of my walk through such dark valleys. May this witness be a small offering for your faithfulness & everlasting love
